Like the title? ^ I think its clever because its like im saying go blonde for beach time but really its about how to go blonde!! Right? ๐
I have been in the slowย processย of going blonde and a lot of things have been crossing my mind. In week 1 went about 3-4 shades lighter with a lot ofย processing, bleach, toners and hair dyes. All to only get close to my desired color.
Going blonde is no easy task, most people need to go to a professional several times to go from brown to blonde. I don’t have to though. I have gone blonde before by professionals and by myself. Every time I go blonde I seem to do a better job then a salon does. I know my hair, I understand how my hair works, and how it takes to color and bleaching. My one stylist would always refuse to use a toner…….
That is one of the biggest fails a stylist could say and not do!!! I would hear about other “bottle blondes” having this done at their salons and their hair always looking so lovely while mine always has yellow, gold, peachy, tones in it. After watching people highlight my hair many times I figured out the technique to doing highlights and to dye hair correctly. I now always dye my own hair. I haven’t had mine professionally done in years. I always research before I dye to make sure I take the proper steps.
Since I don’t want my hair damaged, I am doing this in steps. 1 week was to get my hair color in the right color range
I went from being a level 4-5 in dyed hair to a level 7-8 in dyed hair. I did this all in a matter of days. My hair color is not to the full desired color yet but since I want to maintain my hairs health, I am going to wait a week-2 weeks before I lighten areas again. Why I say my hair is now 7-8 is because I did a series of different techniques to lighten. I did foils with bleached highlight while I did the left over hair outside of foils as color. For the bleaching I used a level 20 developer and for the hair color I also used a level 20 so that the dye would not just set the color into my hair, but it would lift then set. Giving me a lightening affect.
After all this my hair was in the right color range, but the undertones were disgusting. This always happens when you are going blonde from a natural dark color or from any dyed hair color. I had my hair previously dyed and along with that I know my hair always goes brassy when I lighten. So I now had to put a toner in my hair. Which like I said before, my stylist would never do or refuse to do. My local beauty supply store for some reason does not sell toner :S so I used a professional level color with violet undertones to act as a toner. Since my hair color was in the 7-8 range. I used a level 8v to tone. I used a level 10 developer and got my hair to the color I wanted to achieve after my first round of processing. yay!!!
Now all that remains is random highlights once again all throughout my hair and I am at my desired blonde!!!!
NO PICTURES TILL IT IS COMPLETE ๐
I was blog browsing last night and noticed a blogger that has…. attempted blonde hair? either way I saw it and it just made me angry andย embarrassedย for her. She was a level 6 blonde that had full orange under tones that made her skin just look very sickly and overall… gross!!!! Like….. how do you not notice you hair color is super unflattering?
I will not post pictures or share who they are. But I just so badly want to let her know what to do and that she needs to fix it stat!!!
In my opinion there are some major rules to being a “bottle blonde”
Rule #1
Bleach your eyebrows!!!! If you not a born blonde and have brown or black hair then you gotta lighten your eyebrows….. Your eyebrows should always be 2 shades lighter or if your a blonde they should matchย entirely, otherwise you look trashy. This also plays a huge role depending on your ethnicity.
Thats an example of how badly important bleaching your eyebrows is. This is the best example I could find online ๐
Rule #2
Fill in those eyebrows!! Yes you lightened them for 2 reasons not just one! Now that they are lightened you need to consider filling them in! Not only is this a hair rule but it also is a makeup artists rule! Filling in your brows is important for every hair color. Fill them in with a color that matches you hair color. Your eyebrows frame your face. Making you look gorgeous even with no eye makeup on!
This girl looks hot but can you imagine if she filled in her eyebrows 1 shade darker? She would look perfect! Right now she looks almost like she has no eyebrows at all! And having no eyebrows is a huge NO NO!
Rule #3
Bleach yourย moustache!!!!!!! DAMMIT LADIES!!!! If you have facial hair of any kind you should remove or bleach it no matter what! But if your gonna be blonde then it is even moreย crucial! In your photos all we can see is the darkness around your upper lip, side burns, and…. unibrow. The fact that you are blonde only makes this stand out moreย >.<
Ugh do what ever you wanna do, wax, shave, hair remover cream, laser,ย electrolysis, bleaching, whatever! Just remove that facial hair. If your toย afraidย of any form of removal then bleach it.
Rule #4
TONE!!!! TONE TONE TONE!!!! Use a toner or make your stylist use a toner. You don’t want cheese colored hair…….. For the perfect blonde use a toner or wait a day and use a toning hair dye.
Toners always have blue/violet undertones. Use them. You will not regret it.
Thats about all I can currently think of other then simple stuff like using treatments once a week and waiting 1 week-a month in between dye jobs and bleaching. Uhg I just saw people with horrible blonde and it was so frustrating that I had to blog about it ๐
Now hopefully the next post I do will be showing how good my blonde has turned out! hahahaha…..
Wish me luck in my final step!
