Today I will be reviewing a fun product that contains 96% snail extract! The COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.
This products is an essence which is meant to be used before your serum. Snail extract is a popular ingredient that became popular in South Korea, started the snail extract trend for hundreds of skincare products and even makeup products!

Product Claims

Snail extra has become a miracle product for the skin. Providing deep repairing properties as well as skin tightening and firming to create healthier and younger looking skin. Just like Ceramides, snail extract repairs the glue between your skin cells, allowing your skin to have a natural and healthy moisture barrier, protecting skin from environmental damage and even fighting against aging such as fine lines and wrinkles.

So why snail extract?
Snails naturally product mucin to protect they soft delicate bodies from the harsh environment. The mucin they produce continuously heals their bodies from scratches from dirt and rocks that they move over. These amazing healing effects from snail extract not only is a miracle for the snails skin, but also our skin.

Packaging & Texture

For me, I am not a fan of COSRX packaging. I find the nozzle of the pump to be too short, making you always have to tilt the bottle you it doesn’t drip down the side. However Its not at all a big deal, I’m just not a fan. I also overall do not like the packaging design. It is not a bottle I want to “display” on my vanity as it does not look appealing to the eye. Unless your an ingredient junkie, there is little to no desire for the COSRX brand packaging. However because the packaging is so unappealing, it makes the product more affordable.

The texture of the essence is very obvious that is contains snail extract. You can immediately tell it has a very “elastic” texture as soon as you pump the product out. It has a mid sticky feeling that absorbs at an average medium rate into the skin. Because of its thick and slightly sticky texture, only 1-2 pumps of this product is needed on the skin, assuming you are using other additional products in your routine. I follow up with the COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Power Essence, so 1-2 pumps of snail extract is PLENTY for my skin.

Effects & Overall

Over the span of 3 weeks, my skin has SIGNIFICANTLY become healthier and much more moisturized. I no longer require a lotion during the day time. I started using 3-4 pumps at night at first, but after 1 week, this became too much for my skin and I started getting clogged pores and small pustule breakouts. After limiting my use to only 1-2 pumps at night, my breakouts started to disappear. My skin overall feels much healthier and extra hydrated. The areas where I got the breakouts are also healing very nicely with no pigmentation marks or scaring. Since I normally scar very easily when ever I get a breakout, it is nice to see the snail extract essence is able to heal my skin so quickly.

I have started to use this every night on my post surgery scar as well to help it heal faster. I’m hoping it will provide lovely results.

TL;DR My skin is now:

• deeply hydrated & moisturized
• small breakout from using too much product
• breakout went away after using less product
• no irritation
• skin feels very plump and healthy
• no marks left behind from breakout
• highly recommended for healthier skin and anti-aging

Tips:

• I use my COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence at night time only.
• The texture is slightly sticky and does not sit well under makeup
• Use only 1-2 pumps if you have combination dehydrated skin.
• possibly not suitable for oily skin types, but it could work for you if you use only 1 pump at night.
